We can all agree that knowing where our food comes from and how it's raised is important in order to insure health benefits, freshest taste, and best quality. But how can we make local, sustainably grown food more available?
That's where Local Flavors comes in.
Local Flavors is a farm-to-table series connecting Illinois growers and producers with local restaurants. Participating restaurants agree to offer a special lunch or dinner menu item (or items) highlighting fresh, seasonal, locally produced foods. The series opens new markets for local farmers, giving them a chance to grow; gives restaurants an opportunity to work with local farmers and receive high quality products; and makes local food more accessible to the public.
Local Flavors lunches and dinners will be held on the first and third Thursday of the month from June to October.
